Firing Range

Welcome to RangeMaster Pro Newsletter

Achieving the results you need in a report is all about the selection criteria.  One element that comes into play but that's easily overlooked is the Employment Status and Firearm Status List in Reports indicator.  This indicator is not available in Version I, but the principle still applies.

Version I users:
Only officers with a status of “Active” or “Reserve” will list in reports.  The exception to this is the Officer Detail/History report which allows you to select any officer, regardless of their status.  Firearms do not have a status, but if an officer has a status of “Inactive” or “Retired”, neither their firearms nor equipment will list on inventory reports.

Version II users:
If the officer or firearm Status field is left blank on a report selection window, then the report only includes those officers/firearms who’s Status has its List in Reports indicator checked in the corresponding Status List. (View lists by clicking the Lists button on the toolbar.)  However, you can select any status from the dropdown list, even those whose List in Reports indicator is not checked.  Selecting a status overrides its List in Reports indicator.  When you specify a status on a report selection window, only officers/firearms of the selected status will appear on the report.  The List in Reports indicator in the Officer and Firearm Status Lists can be checked or unchecked as needed.

The List in Reports indicator is a great way to exclude retired or inactive officers and stolen firearms from your reports.

For a more detailed explanation of how to use the List in Reports indicator, click here to see the audio/video tutorial on Reports.

Synchronization is a RangeMaster Pro II feature that updates two data files with the other’s data changes.  This means that you can update RangeMaster Pro II on your desktop while someone else updates RangeMaster Pro II on a notebook and after synchronization, both files will contain all the updates.  This process can be executed from either of the two computers.  The Synchronize feature is available from the RangeMaster Pro II menu bar.  Click File > Synchronize Data File.

If two or more computers share the same data file through a network, synchronization is not necessary.

Version 2.2.2 is now available.  This is a free upgrade for RangeMaster Pro II users.  Click here to download this upgrade.

Did you know that the status bar at the bottom of the RangeMaster Pro II home window displays expiration reminder notices for firearm maintenance, qualification courses, training courses and license to carry permits that have expired or are about to expire?  Furthermore, if you have version 2.2.1 or later, and one of these notices appear, you can simply double-click on the notice to take you directly to its expiration report selection window.  To learn how to use expiration notification, see the help topic titled Expiration Reminder Flags.
